Rae, up until a year ago I'd spent my entire life in California. Some of the places I lived in were prefect widow habitat. My grandmother spent 10 years in an old, old ramshackle house down in San Bernadino that was ripe for black widows. There were big rock strewn open fields behind her house that blended into orchards and dairy farms.
Never in my life have I seen or heard of anyone having that many black widows in one place. Not even once. In the 28 years I lived in the Bay Area, I think I only found a couple dozen total.
Call the county agricultural extension service. Tell them what you're dealing with and ask them for help. All the insecticide you're using isn't good for you and can't be good for the animals around you. There has to be something that can be done to bring the population down to a sane level.
