I just got a rejection from The Vestal Review. Oddly enough, this is the same piece they rejected 4 weeks ago.

Does this kind of thing happen a lot?

And more importantly, do I get to count this as 2 rejections toward my goal of 20 for the year???

From what I hear, it's not uncommon.

And it counts in the you'remyfriendsoofcourseitcounts way, but not in the way you probably want it to. :P

I've never had it happen to me, but I have heard of it happening to other writers. I say it counts!

Counts!

Because it's extra "traumatizing." Rejected twice by the same market for the same piece! D:

In lawyer-ese, unless you specified that each rejection must be from a different magazine or for a different story, I do believe it counts.

Gee, I don't know...

I'd say no, it doesn't count. But then I don't want you to get *too* ahead of me in terms of rejections. ;)

(No, I'm not competitive or anything like that -- why'd you ask? *stares wide-eyed*)

:D

I've had it happen before. One magazine rejected me three times in one month from three different edtiors. That was special. *g*

And sure it counts.
