Lake McClure was victim to the annual houseboating trip this weekend. It was 111 degrees on Fri. Fortunately, it cooled to a balmy 106 by Sun. Much fun was had. I swam a lot, got a colossal sunburn, and fell easily back into the roll of "silliest Aunt Rae-rae ever."

I have the cutest niece on the planet. Exhibit A:

4-yr-old Kristine: Aunt Rae-Rae, what's that shiny, muddy stuff over there?

Aunt RR: That's driftwood.

Kristine: No it's not.

Aunt RR: No?

Kristine: You know what I think?

Aunt RR: I definitely want to know what you think.

Kristine: I think it's hippopotamuses.

It is good to be an aunt.

It is great, especially when they are little. Now they are older, my niece is allergic to our dog and my nephew is antisocial. ::sigh::

They had hippos on tv last night, and I got to learn that fighting bulls both drool and flap their tails to make poop fly out of their butts as part of their studly preparations.

I totally sympathize. Auntie-ing rocks. Roo explained to me that the thing in "Empire Strikes Back" that is not-a-cave is a space rock alligator. So okay then.

Poop fly out of their butt? I brag everytime I successfully go to the bathroom. Does that count?

I think it is a hold over from potty training. We get so much congratulations for successfully going to the bathroom that those of us with no real ambition expect the same congratulations regardless of age. Damn it. I just realized I had the same goals as when I was three. To not poop my pants if possible...

*needs to revise life goals*

And btw...they are cute when they are younger. My older nephew (he is four now) used to want to sit on uncle's lap. Now it is always, "No! I can do it myself!!!"

Until he is tired and then it is, "Uncle. I get on your shoulders now. Give me dinosaur ride, okayyyyyyyyyy....

:D

Yeah, I've been going about this wooing thing all wrong. I should be emphasizing the bodily functions more. What's sexier than a big smelly fart, for instance?

And I already knew ZOP was a dinosaur...

he is an adorable Roo. I spent some time Roo wrangling after Auntie M'rissa had to leave, and it was one of the best parts of my weekend.
