Overheard on the houseboat...
Jul. 18th, 2005 07:35 amLake McClure was victim to the annual houseboating trip this weekend. It was 111 degrees on Fri. Fortunately, it cooled to a balmy 106 by Sun. Much fun was had. I swam a lot, got a colossal sunburn, and fell easily back into the roll of "silliest Aunt Rae-rae ever."
I have the cutest niece on the planet. Exhibit A:
4-yr-old Kristine: Aunt Rae-Rae, what's that shiny, muddy stuff over there?
Aunt RR: That's driftwood.
Kristine: No it's not.
Aunt RR: No?
Kristine: You know what I think?
Aunt RR: I definitely want to know what you think.
Kristine: I think it's hippopotamuses.
It is good to be an aunt.

Date: 2005-07-18 04:57 pm (UTC)I think it is a hold over from potty training. We get so much congratulations for successfully going to the bathroom that those of us with no real ambition expect the same congratulations regardless of age. Damn it. I just realized I had the same goals as when I was three. To not poop my pants if possible...
*needs to revise life goals*
And btw...they are cute when they are younger. My older nephew (he is four now) used to want to sit on uncle's lap. Now it is always, "No! I can do it myself!!!"
Until he is tired and then it is, "Uncle. I get on your shoulders now. Give me dinosaur ride, okayyyyyyyyyy....
:D
