In my whole life, I've written 3 short stories. And I'm only on my first draft of my first novel. Ten chapters later, I feel like I've learned a tiny bit about writing. (Such a veteran am I!) Enough, at least, to realize that my first 2 chapters suck bananas. I could let myself get discouraged, but I've decided to be thankful that I know they suck. That means I can do something about them. And by the time I finish, I'm sure I'll realize that suckiness is not limited to ch's 1 & 2.
But when I think about writing UM'd all over again, I just kinda want to...sob helplessly. It's been so much work already! I guess I'm learning from Jodi and Holly-kitty that I must be willing to re-write HUGE CHUNKS if necessary. It will make me a better writer, and eventual success *crosses fingers* will be all the sweeter for it. *takes deep breath* We shall not be discouraged! *raises fist in victory gesture* We shall press on, refusing to be defeated by massive rewrites and pesky outlines!
(and the crowd goes wild)
Please forgive these elementary ramblings, or just chalk them up to 'freshman writer'
