Writerly Stuff for 9/17/05
Sep. 17th, 2005 11:53 pmProgress: 2,212 words on Elisa's Belly
Made-up words: glorifica, lengua plebeya, slippered
Barely avoided clichés: 'Ware the sighings!!!
The words I'll hate most to cut: Irritation mixes with affection as I watch her bow over the fabric, wrestling with buttons and ruffled silk. She works so hard on my behalf, and tonight, I betray her.
Thank God an editor didn't see this: It throbs as we hold it above the alter...
Black widows killed: Widow-free!!! My landlord must have sprayed, finally. Or maybe I got lucky.
General thoughts: I practiced strategic blasphemy today. Elisa's Belly has an earth-origin premise that is subtle but pervading (if I've done this right), and I must warp scripture accordingly. It's fun. I mean, who doesn't like to play God? Just kidding. Really. (And lo, He smote her with Teh Smitingness...)
Also, a seekrit message to the Self-Doubt Monster: BITE ME.
