Barely avoided clichés: a picture of health
The words I'll hate most to cut: I wondered what it would be like to beat my body into a semblance of youth instead of having it already stuck there, like a cold statue.
Thank God an editor didn't see this: I resumed picking again.
General thoughts: This story is a strange little animal. Not sure if it works yet. I'm tired and loopy and I fear that upon re-reading when rested, I'll want to scrap the whole thing. *shrug*
