Last night's goal was 2500 words, and I got very, very close (about 2200). My mom called, and I can't exactly brush off my mom (I actually like her), so that put the writing back a good hour. But hey, not bad says I, for losing a whole hour.

AND, I'm happy with what I wrote! There is definitely some clunky sentence structure that will get refined today, but the meat of the piece (setting, characterization, plot development) is as good as anything I've written--which isn't to say it can't be improved. I mean, I'm still learning sooo much. But yay! Double yay!!! And huge thanks to dark_geisha for thinking up this animal; I needed a little push.

It's funny. Every time I sit down at the computer, I'm afraid the words won't come, because they are NEVER there when I set out to write. But they do come, and the more I practice, the easier it is to take my brain to the writing place where my words are.
