Coming out of hibernation...maybe.
Feb. 20th, 2005 12:09 amYeah. So. I haven't been feeling too good. It's nothing a little health insurance wouldn't fix, so I just have to hang in there for a few more weeks.
But, in the interest of staving off the Are You OKAY phone calls from family and friends, I attended my cousin's baby shower today. I was very sociable. Laughed a lot. Pretended to lose the silly games so everyone would still like me.
My baby sister, Hannah, was there, books in hand. (I love that kid.) She told me, delighted, that during the car ride, she and mom listened to A Wrinkle In Time on audio tape.
(Quick insertion of Rae's Sordid Past: I've always been a nerd. I've worked very hard to shake my nerditude by doing such things as mastering the vernacular {yanno, shorter sentences, smaller words, lots of slang}, dumbing down job interviews, pretending to lose party games, getting a haircut at least once a year...)
So, mom pipes in..."Yeah, Rae, funny thing about that book. There's a character in it that reminds me so much of you!" Rae feels warm and fuzzy right about now, thinking of Meg. *loves Meg* Mom continues: "Yeah, little Charles Wallace. He's Just Like YOU!!!"
*dies*
*eternal nerd*

Date: 2005-02-20 09:34 am (UTC)Ooo, A Wrinkle in Time! I have that book... I should read it again.
*pets for being compared to Charles Wallace* If it helps, I liked him. Not that I remember the characters that well, but I liked him several years ago. I'll let you know how I feel once I reread the books. :)

Date: 2005-02-20 06:36 pm (UTC)But I'm pretty sure Charles Wallace was a nerd. Actually, the exact word my mom used was "weird."
