1. My car got broken into today. Nothing stolen, but it's a mess in there. Looks like a slimjim job, so no damage to the doors or windows. Small blessings, small blessings.

2. I really, really, really want a piano. Really.

3. Tomorrow is my 90-day eval at work. There may be a phat raise involved. Nervousness ensues.

4. I am outgrowing The Unmagicked and may trunk it for good. This has the potential to be both heart-rending and cathartic. Of course, I'm too much the noob writer to know what's best. Perhaps I'll decide by coin toss.

5. The sun has not shown itself in more than 4 weeks. I think I'm S.A.D. Resolved: Move to Arizona. Or Cancun.

6. For exercise tonight, I danced around my bedroom to Usher, Ciara, and Destiny's Child. Yes, my dancing is art. I'm sure the world would be amazed at my precision, my adherance to musical nuance, my uninhibited flinging of limbs, but I thought of my buddy, Ghyslain, and reaffirmed my decision to practice a camera-free lifestyle.

Eeek, sorry about the car, but glad nothing was taken and no damage.

Oooh, we had a piano at my house in Texas. Not that people really played it often...

Yay eval! I'm sure you'll do great! And yay raise!

Alas for Unmagicked, but... I think I know how you feel. ST has the same feel of being my puppy love... :S

Move here! We get sun and clouds. Because if you moved to Arizona or Cancun you'd miss the clouds. And writing to rain is really dandy!

Yay dancing! Yay "uninhibited flinging of limbs"! That sounds eerily similar to my own crazy dancing skills! Must be the twin thing... or the hivemind.

Speaking of twin thing, you should post a picture so people can see your haircut, you pretty thing you! :D

Damn it all!!! A haircut? That *is* bad news. Why do you women insist upon cutting your hair. Bah...

Her hair is beautiful! When Holly and I saw it we decided Rae looks 21 again. :D

No offense, but what is so great about looking 21? I'm not saying it is bad to be 21, but what makes someone interesting?

I'm all for youthful enthusiasm and determination (Ariana is the main character after all), but vivaciousness comes from a little bit of experience coupled by a continued love of life...

My opinion anyways. :P

It makes her happy. And if she's 21 then we can really be "twins". Didn't you know she and I were seperated at birth?!

Hee! Looking 21 is great when you're single. Because guys are generally frightened by women (note the use of the word "generally") and looking 21 makes one less intimidating. As long as I don't open my mouth and have a conversation, they'll never know what a frightening person I am. Mwahahahahah!

Heh heh...

My brother and I were talking about Ghyslain just the other day. He said something like, "You know we'd have done the same thing when we were his age."

And I had to point out: "I'd do it now. Give me a staff and leave me alone in a room for awhile...I'd be vanquishing a horde of dark foes." (With sound effects, of course.)

:D

Unmagicked trunked...okay dammit. But you better come up with a new fricken novel idea. I like your writing dude. You're a good writer. Maybe you're hopelessly stuck with Unmagicked (don't know why, there are so many good things about it), but then need a new novel...

Unmagicked just no longer represents my best effort, dude. Can I continue to work on something that I know if fatally flawed? I dunno... but I'm going to work on something else for a while. Maybe I'll come back to it with fresh eyes.

You said a while back that you were going to start over and revise Christo. So, post post post already, dude. :-)

I need to world-build first dude. I need to add a couple of layers to this next draft. When I'm done I'll be attacking Christo once again...

She has EB, dude!

And even if she does trunk U for real, she can always use it for spare parts. I don't think U is gone for good. :)

Dude! I'm sooo gonna use U for spare parts! That chunk of change can spin short story threads in my head for days!! Or novelettes!!

Exactly! :D

Although if it were me trunking ST (which, hey, something I'm honestly considering if I never see Arian again or find I can't salvage the story) I'd probably steal bits of it for another novel. Like, I still enjoy the Tear and Fire story (as cliche as it is) and Guardian... And, of course, Triston. :D

Those threads would probably be a little too close to ST to fit with another novel, but worldy bits... oh yeah. Actually, whole characters... I'm not above that. :D

And I still love U, in case you were wondering (and if I don't tell you enough). I think it's a great idea that just needs more focus on the overall arc in the beginning. But that is just me. :D

*yammers*

*avoids writing*

bah. *lets characters make googley eyes at each other*

I hope you get more $$$!

So sorry to hear about the car. I was a victim of car theft in college. It's an unnerving experience.

Why exactly are you thinking about abandoning your novel?

Date: 2005-01-25 06:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] raecarson.livejournal.com
It is unnerving!

My novel is fatally flawed. There are some good concepts, and even--unless I'm completely delusional, which is likely--some nice writing. But for the amount of work I'd have to do to fix it, I might as well just start over. It's too meandering and disjointed. It needs to be replotted with more attention to immediacy, tension, and character motivation. *sigh*

How's Genescape coming??

I understand. I feel the same way about my 220,000-word effort from 2002. I'm excited about tackling a complete rewrite, though, and applying what I've learned in the interim. I don't know when I'll get around to that, but I will; I love the characters too much to just abandon the story.

How's Genescape coming?

Sloooooooooowly. I haven't been feeling well these last few nights, so I haven't done much work on it this week. Maybe tonight.
