So proud of my kids...
Dec. 16th, 2004 02:40 pmSince I started this job, I've enrolled 40 students in junior college. My target market is painfully unskilled. Welfare moms, former felons, and high school drop outs make up the majority of my prospects. It's difficult--like pulling teeth with tweezers, sometimes--convincing these non-academics to accept the challenge of accredited, college-level work.
And it is hard work. Hours of homework, lots of memorization, group projects...and most of my students are parents and/or hold down jobs.
Well, the final grades have been tallied, and I have (drumroll) 25 students on the Dean's List! That means 25 students who probably got all C's and D's in high school now have a 3.25 GPA or above.
I am sooo proud.
In other news: I have the best cat in the world. He took care of me last night when I was sick and posted about it on
pet_rant.
