A few days ago, I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] everyonesakitty about the age-old question of why we write. The predominant reasons had to do with unstoppable muses, passion for the written word, and the fact that writing is the funnest thing we work hardest at.

But there were underlying motives as well, ones that rarely see the light of day because they are not en vogue, never acknowledged because they are too shameful to admit to. In short, they are The Wrong Reasons.

I'm willing to bet everyone has a Wrong Reason for writing. It's probably not the most important one, not the one that pushes you through hours of WIP-hate and mountains of form rejections. But it's there, cowering beneath a veneer of Artistic Integrity.

So, I double-dog-dare you to tell us all what your Wrong Reason is. This is a place of safety, right? Right??? No one will ever know except for the teensy lj-community...
