A Happy-Making Review
Sep. 13th, 2007 08:30 amThis is going to make me feel warm and fuzzy all day.
"Fugue" in Weird Tales #345
*happy sigh*
Ok, so this story was my "girlfriend test." It has a little more sentimental meaning than the others. Back when
ccfinlay and I were getting to know each other, he offered to take a look at the story and help me polish it up. I thought, what a nice guy! But he had ulterior motives. He later confessed to checking out my writerly-skillz. He wasn't sure he could date a fellow writer if he thought her writing sucked. Sneaky little tester guy.
Thank God I passed.

Date: 2007-09-13 05:07 pm (UTC)I don't think one writer can even think about dating another unless they like -- or love -- the other person's writing. Relationships are hard enough without the added strain of blurting out during arguments something like "Shut the hell up! You talk like you write -- one run-on sentence after another, never making a point! Holy crap it annoys me!"

Date: 2007-09-16 03:57 am (UTC)Where I come from we'd call that review bitchin'. By where I come from I mean the 80's apparently, but hey.
To celebrate you should go down to Denise's Ice Cream on High Street and get some Guinness flavored ice cream. Sound kind of nasty, but it rocks powerfully. (In my humble opinion)
Congratulations that is so great!
Success!
Date: 2007-09-16 07:20 pm (UTC)Speaking of the issue in question, the book stores in Columbus finally have copies of it! Woo Hoo! Just got back from the B&N in Upper Arlington and they have many copies!
I got my copy and a free evening after a good block of writing!
Yay!

Date: 2007-09-19 02:42 am (UTC)My wife and I ended up getting to know each other by writing endless emails to each other instead of working. Entire days would go past without us doing any work whatsoever. When I left the company, I printed all the emails out and we have them in a folder in our bookcase. It's a fun set of memories. : D
