This is going to make me feel warm and fuzzy all day.

"Fugue" in Weird Tales #345

*happy sigh*

Ok, so this story was my "girlfriend test." It has a little more sentimental meaning than the others. Back when [livejournal.com profile] ccfinlay and I were getting to know each other, he offered to take a look at the story and help me polish it up. I thought, what a nice guy! But he had ulterior motives. He later confessed to checking out my writerly-skillz. He wasn't sure he could date a fellow writer if he thought her writing sucked. Sneaky little tester guy.

Thank God I passed.

Woot! Congratz. ;)

Also, um... *digs toe into the sand* I've performed that test, too.

How can you not perform the test?!

I don't think one writer can even think about dating another unless they like -- or love -- the other person's writing. Relationships are hard enough without the added strain of blurting out during arguments something like "Shut the hell up! You talk like you write -- one run-on sentence after another, never making a point! Holy crap it annoys me!"

That kind of dirty talking should really stay in the bedroom.

That is totally romantic!

Congrats on the story!

P.S. I have to confess I've done this before. I was dating a writer and I was curious about his skills. We're still friends and our parting of ways had nothing to do with his prose prowess.

Woohoo!!! 'Bout time my favorite short story of yours gets the recognition it deserves!!!

P.S. What'd I tell ya? One o' these days you're gonna have to start trusting me... :-p

Date: 2007-09-13 07:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] raecarson.livejournal.com
But if I started listening to you, you'd only have to tell me things ONCE! And THEN where would we be? Geesh.

From: [identity profile] purdypiedad.livejournal.com
Heh. Yeah. Not much verbal affirmation in hearing how great we are only once, huh? Rest assured, you rock, and I'll never let you forget that I think so!

... And I think that hubby of yours might share my sentiments.

It's been years since I've minded being the brunt of your talking. Now I might even *cough* miss it!

*cough* The boyfriend test is a lot more forgiving, or there wouldn't be many relationships at all.

This is just begging for a perverted doe-buck innuendo. However, I'm too full of mexican food to do it justice ... so I'll leave it to you and Rae's imagination. :)

Where I come from we'd call that review bitchin'. By where I come from I mean the 80's apparently, but hey.

To celebrate you should go down to Denise's Ice Cream on High Street and get some Guinness flavored ice cream. Sound kind of nasty, but it rocks powerfully. (In my humble opinion)

Congratulations that is so great!

Success!

Speaking of the issue in question, the book stores in Columbus finally have copies of it! Woo Hoo! Just got back from the B&N in Upper Arlington and they have many copies!

I got my copy and a free evening after a good block of writing!

Yay!

: D That's a cool story. : )

My wife and I ended up getting to know each other by writing endless emails to each other instead of working. Entire days would go past without us doing any work whatsoever. When I left the company, I printed all the emails out and we have them in a folder in our bookcase. It's a fun set of memories. : D
