Writerly Stuff for 9/25 - 9/26
Sep. 27th, 2005 01:20 amProgress: approx. 6,000 words on Elisa's Belly. *running man* *raises the roof*
Made-up words: steepens, unprovoking, firepit
Barely avoided clichés: I did alright today. Don't worry, I won't get comfy. (I'm taking slight issue with "dizzying heights." It will probably die in the next draft.)
Thank God an editor didn't see this: Oh, the errors! Woe is me!! Some prime examples: ...and the shadows make ghastly shadows on her face. ...the camel's rocking gate. ...beneath my ripcage. And my favorite: ...with butts that spring randomly from the earth to dizzying heights.
The words I'll hate most to cut: I wake each morning eager to see the tiny miracle of water droplets sparkling in the desert. Water, I now realize, is a thing to be stared at and admired. As powerful as fire, as sweet as date sugar, more precious than gold. So it's always with a twinge of reluctance that I wet my tongue on the rocks and dampen my shawl.
Black widows killed: None. I'm gonna say that again: NONE! :-)
What Elisa ate today: Jerky, lots of dates, more gerboa soup
General thoughts: I like camels. I'm gonna take a stand right now and say Camels Are Cool. (
sosostris2012, can I steal your icon?)
Also, I had a squee moment today. The lovely
navicat sent me a copy of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine all the way from the land down under. *squees again* You ROCK, JoJo.
