Don't read this; it's boring

raefinlayWriting: Outlined two short stories. Both urban fantasy w/horror elements. A first (and second) for Rae. Also knocked out three reviews this weekend. Now, I have... *counts on fingers* ...only about 50 more to catch up on. *sigh*
Domestic Goddess-y stuff: Watching Buffy season 4, I've become psychotically jealous of Giles' pad. He's got this library-candle-bohemian thing going on. (And just HOW, I ask, does a retired school librarian afford such a nice place in college-town California??) So I went shopping. Some silk throw pillows, a few candles, and several East Indian sculptures later, I've just about captured The Look. Next mission: Sheer drape-y stuff in rust or deep red.
Rae's Agricultural Awakening: We've had WAY too much rain this year in the Central Valley. At last count, we were at 170% of our yearly quota. The trees are blossoming everywhere. It's just about the prettiest thing on the planet. Literally, blizzards of white-pink almond blossoms are swirling around, blanketing my driveway, getting stuck in my hair. Unfortunately, all this moisture is 1. Rotting the blossoms, 2. Knocking them off the trees, and 3. Preventing the bees from pollenizing. This last item I have trouble seeing as a Bad Thing, since my front yard is usually something from an Alfred Hitchcock movie this time of year. All this to say, be prepared for high prices on fruits and nuts this summer.
Bugs: Gnats everywhere. But the rain is keeping the bees and ants away. AND AND AND...No black widows in over a month! *happy dance*
Free Advice: If you are too busy to eat all day, and get really, really hungry, then finally get a chance to grub, DON'T CHOOSE CHINESE FOOD. Just sayin'.
And now my bed calls to me. Alas, I must arise and face the Real World again tomorrow. Hey, I vote to make every weekend a 3-day.
