Ready for the next rejection round...
Dec. 22nd, 2004 11:19 pm*stiff upper lip*
Gave First Waltz another waxing tonight. Re-ordered some things, trimmed it down, added stuff. Net loss of 300 words. It's a complicated little thing (clarify: complicated to ME, the uncomplicated one). This will be my last revision on it. Another would make it too...disconnected? I don't want it to suffer revisionitis.
Also started revising A Son of the Right Hand. I think it's gonna go mainstream.
Lightbender is almost ready for Realms, though I still have time since Carina is between batches.
Dude(s)! Three stories on the rejection circuit! *feels so writer-y*
Then, once those are trying to find homes, I'll unpack The Verity Ring from the trunk and rewrite. Actually, I may not even look at the thing. (*loves premise, hates prose*) My dream market for that one is Cicada, but ha ha ha ha ha.
And now, I must sleep. MUST.

Date: 2004-12-23 04:12 pm (UTC)I never read First Waltz when it came on OWW (since I usually restrict my reading to chapters of novels).
If you want me to take a look shoot it to me via email. I'd love to read it. Sounds interesting...

The conclusion of this story is ingenious. Very good. The joining of the one and the two. Communion with god. I loved it. Excellent idea. Great knowledge of music, timing, base 8 mathematics, etc. I loved all that stuff. I couldn't have written this story in million upon millions of years (even with 10,000 monkeys, banging away at keyboards...well perhaps if I waited for the offsprings of those monkeys to evolve (or some would say devolve) into writer types :P ).
My only advice would be to cut much words near the beginning of piece. The only reason I'd suggest that is because you don't want to have the slush reader not get to the end. The end is so darn clever and they are really missing out if they just read the first couple of pages and say, "Didn't grab"...
