Need help from cat experts

Now that Schrody is healthy, I'd like for him and Butler to get acquainted. But we're talking two large ex-toms, one extremely aggressive and high energy, the other borderline feral. They've been sniffing at each other for months through the door of my bedroom, but that's about it. I didn't want to risk Schro's healing leg to the jaws of Teh Butler-Monster.

Today, I let them sniff noses, but the encounter ended with an exchange of fur tufts and embarassingly foul feline language. (And my bloody forearm.)

Any tips?
