Progress: A whole big bunch on Elisa's Belly. I've been lazy about posting progress because by the time I'm done writing, I'm usually exhausted. But I'm soooo gonna finish this thing.
Made-up words: Cerrolindo, Aña, cowled, prayerless,
Barely avoided clichés: dark eyes, shadowed eyes, glowering eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes...
Thank God an editor didn't see this: Jacián rents stable births... (I think a rent-a-birth business model could revolutionize procreation.)
The words I'll hate most to cut: We eventually drift off to sleep, all of us in one tiny room, arms flung across torsos, legs tangled in soothing discomfort. (I'm calling it the Not-Orgy.)
Black widows killed: Two. I found one in the trash bin as I was bringing it back from the curb. Right next to my hand.
What Elisa ate today: Spiced, shredded beef on flatbread, wild turkey cooked over the fire, and many daydreams about cream-filled coconut scones.
General thoughts: I just allowed Elisa a seriously phat victory. She's happy. Poor kid. She's gonna hate the next chapter.
I started posting to OWW again since I'm so nearly finished. Already, I've gotten lovely, helpful reviews from
sosostris2012,
aaron_mag,
aimeepoynter, and
merebrillante. My writer buddies are smarter than your writer buddies. Envy me.
I was concerned that if I backed away from Fated Romance and Scary Danger in favor of Political Intrigue, readers would lose interest. But everyone seems to be diggin' it. *huge sigh of relief*
Have I mentioned that I'm soooo gonna finish this book?
