Rejection: Got a "nice writing but didn't grab" from F&SF on a new-ish novelet. Now I get to figure out who has the honor of assigning Rejection #2.

Work: I love working from home. I design trusses in my pj's. I take a shower on my lunch break. I never fight traffic! *happy*

Mawwiage: The shiny new hubs seems to be working out pretty well. We've been sick together for a few days, and we still like each other. I think he's a keeper.

Weather: The air warmed to a balmy 41 degrees today, and the world began to melt. Outside, the sound of trickling water drowns out even the birds. You can't see most of the runoff...it's trickling away beneath the ice pack. Yeah, yeah, this is all old hat for a lot of you folks, but I'm from California. There, "winter" just means "tanning booth."

I love working from home when it happens.

The irony is, my wife said that if I ever start writing full time, I may have to go find somewhere else to do it, because she has a hard time coping with me being in the house, but unavailable.

Surviving being sick together is a true test. Sounds like you guys passed.

We've been sick together for a few days, and we still like each other.

That's the key. When you don't mind cleaning up after they've thrown up.

If this is the novelet we talked about, I suggest SH. ::cough::

And I don't know if winter here will ever be old hat for me. Not one of them is the same and as long as I pay attention, there is always something new and cool to notice.

I'm waiting for the ice on the river to start breaking up. THAT will be cool. *g*

I love working at home, too.

And being sick together and still liking each other is a derned good thing. :D

You design trusses? Like, the kind that people wear? Cuz I've got this stiff neck, you see ...

Yes. They're all the rage in Europe. Funny how fashion cycles.

Ok, not. I design metal plate connected roof trusses for building projects.

*doesn't touch the stiff-necked joke*

Ah, so you could design wearable trusses for giant robots. That's really cool.

Ah, interesting. Yanno, the first week was kind of hard because I had to really focus to get work done. (oh, lookit all those dishes in the sink...oh, lookit how cute my kitty is...) If Charlie were home, I'm sure there'd be even more of that.

I totally could. Once giant robots hit the scene (any day now...) my career is golden.

I was wondering how you were earning a living these days :-) That's pretty sweet that you can telecommute now. I am officially jealous.
