1) I have the rawkinest LJ peeps. Just sayin'.

2) The Town Drunk is open for submissions! So now is probably a good time for clarification. Although we love funny stuff, we're also big fans of subtle humor and light-hearted fare. [livejournal.com profile] merebrillante and I just passed up a story that, while not laugh-out-loud funny, was clever and sophisticated and put a huge smile on my face. So don’t worry if you're not a comedian, and don't overdo the funny if that's not your style. Just write cool, light-ish stuff and SUBMIT. (Other Drunks, feel free to weigh in here...)

3) I have discovered (a little late to the party) Natasha Bedingfield. I can't decide if she's omg so cheesy, or if I adore her madly.

4) Attention Walmart shoppers: CHOOSE PERSONAL HYGIENE.

Natasha Bedingfield is definitely better on recorded tracks and stuff that's been through a studio. I've seen and heard her live a few times and all I can say, based on those performances, is: "Learn how to lip sync because you really can't perform live." Her voice sounded nothing like it does on the recorded tracks.

Ah, interesting. I wouldn't have pegged her for a studio creation. But that, alas, describes too many artists these days.

1) Hm... much overlap. I shall have to investigate further. :)
2) Cool.
3) Me too.
4) YES.

Yeah, I totally didn't either. I never thought she had the vocal abilities of, say, Joss Stone, to pick another Brit but when she opened her mouth, all I could think was, "That's not what I expected at all." I was kind of shocked.

(But I guess it's not too surprising? I'm not entirely convinced she didn't get a recording contract because she's Daniel Bedingfield's sister.)

Heh. Yeah, the brother/sister top pop combo was too commercially brill to pass up. But, she is also a pretty good lyricist. Word is she writes a lot of her own stuff for real (and isn't just generously given top billing in the credits).

I seem to not do light-hearted in my fiction. Funny, yes, but not light-hearted. Too bad, because it seems like a great webzine.

Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" is like the ultimate writing song...

...and yet it's really sappy too.

Tough call!

I'm more of a black humour kind of gal, it seems. Oh well. Maybe I'll grow out of it when I have less Angst, and then I can send you my works of genius some slush.

I think I just read the story you and Kim passed back for third review. I liked it too! ;)
